Our Policies
Cancellations
Our time is limited, and we plan our appointment days to optimize travel time. As such clients who cancel appointments without at least 24 hours notice will be subject to a fee equal to the farm call and/or examination fee.
Communications & Consultation
Dr. Melissa is available for calls/texts during regular business hours (9am - 9pm on weekdays). Email is also an excellent way to communicate with us about non-urgent questions. However, if you are not an established client, have questions/concerns about a patient who has not been seen/treated before or need information that cannot be quickly and easily communicated over text/call/email we will charge a consultation fee.
Prescription/Pharmacy Policy
To continue providing efficient reliable service to ensure your pets receive their medications as quickly as possible we are updating our prescription policy. Effective July 29th, 2026, any prescription medication that is not stocked in our hospital will be processed through our trusted online pharmacy and shipped directly to your home. This allows us to better monitor prescriptions, improve accuracy and provide a convenient delivery option for our clients. As part of this change, we will no longer call in or fax prescription to outside pharmacies.
If you prefer not to use our online pharmacy, we are happy to provide you with a written prescription. Please note that:
A prescription processing fee will apply.
Written prescriptions must be picked up at our veterinary office during regular business hours.
We appreciate your understanding as we implement this new policy. Our goal is to continue providing the highest level of care while making the prescription process as safe and efficient as possible.
If you have any questions about the change or need assistance with our online pharmacy, please don't hesitate to contact our office. We are always happy to help.
Thank you for trusting us with your pet's care.
Sincerely,
Dr. Holahan and staff
Veterinary Client Patient Relationship
We consider you to be an “active” client and have an up to date veterinary client patient relationship (VCPR) if your herd has been seen in-person by Dr. Melissa within the past year. Seeing the doctor at least yearly, ideally bi-annually, ensures that our practice knows what animals are part of your farm and has an up to date understanding of your management practices. The maintenance of a VCPR is required for all medically important antibiotics, including those such as Penicillin and LA 200 which are no longer available for purchase over the counter.
